A motherboard, also known as a mainboard, system board, or logic board, is the primary printed circuit board (PCB) that connects and controls the various components of a computer.
The motherboard provides a platform for other computer components to connect and communicate with each other, including the central processing unit (CPU), random access memory (RAM), graphics processing unit (GPU), storage devices such as hard drives and solid-state drives, and input/output (I/O) devices such as keyboard, mouse, and display.
The motherboard also contains various other components such as power connectors, BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) chip, expansion slots, and other controllers for peripherals. The size and features of a motherboard depend on the type of computer it is intended for, such as desktops, laptops, or servers.
